Nishkam Birdh Ashram
Nishkam Birdh Ashram, situated in Village Bihla, was established in 2018 by Swami Nishkam, the founder of Nishkam Sewa Ashram. The idea behind starting this ashram came from a deeply moving reality — many senior citizens were being abandoned on roads with no one to care for them. To provide them with a safe shelter and compassionate care, Swami Nishkam initiated this noble project. Today, the ashram is home to 80 elderly residents who are either homeless, needy, or abandoned by their families. It stands out as the only fully air-conditioned facility in the region that provides completely free services including food, accommodation, clothing, medical care, and spiritual support through regular satsangs.
The ashram focuses on creating an environment where every elderly person feels dignity, love, and emotional security. Birthdays are celebrated to make the residents feel valued and remembered, and even the final rites are performed with deep respect to honor their lives. Apart from basic necessities, facilities such as a library, a park, television, and Wi-Fi connectivity are also available for entertainment and mental engagement. With a committed team of 7 full-time staff members, the Ashram has successfully helped over 500 senior citizens till now — each story being a symbol of care, compassion, and purpose.
Funding for the Ashram comes through kind-hearted members and donors. Anyone can support by contributing financially, donating in kind, or even sponsoring a senior citizen, which directly helps in taking care of their daily needs and well-being.
