25 children with delayed development or disabilities like cerebral palsy, autism, down syndrome, ADHD who are unable to avail services due to financial constraints.
Total amount required Rs 3000 per child per month.
Developmental disabilities are a group of conditions resulting from impairments that affect a child’s physical, learning, or behavioural functioning. Delays in normal development may lead to disability. Detected early, the delay could be avoided or the secondary problems and deformity prevented.
Census 2011: 1.24% of total children between 0-6 years are disabled.
There is a greater need to prevent developmental delay in early childhood by providing age –appropriate interventions to lead an enhanced quality of life. Between birth – 6 years, the developing brain is most sensitive to stimulation and nurturing. This period of development, forms the building blocks for lifelong health, wellbeing , educational and vocational attainment of the individual and overall human capital and economic development at the population level. This is the golden period of intervention called Early Intervention.
